Players, Coaches and Parents,
This morning, Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space leadership informed us that effective immediately, Marv Teixeira Pavilion is closed to all activities for the next thirty days as a result of the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, due to the timing in our season we will be unable to complete currently scheduled games and will be terminating the season effective today, March 18, 2020. We have no alternative facility to use and since the rink must be down mid-late April, there will not be enough time to complete playoffs.
The text of the notification we received this morning is included below.
Recently the city sent out a press release closing facilities for the next 30 days. These facilities were the MAC, Community Center, Fuji (Exhibit Hall), Aquatic Center and all our Sport Facilities (Centennial, Governors, Pete Livermore). The MTP was left out of that list but with further discussion is being added so effectively immediately all sporting events at the MTP will be cancelled for the next 30 days. We apologize for the inconvenience and if you have any further questions let me know.
The staff at SIHL hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy through this unprecedented time.
Should circumstances change, we will keep you informed via email and we are looking forward to a strong 2020-2021 Hockey Season!
New Flooring Next Season
On the bright side, many of you may have noticed reliability problems with the new flooring and we are pleased to announce Versacourt has acknowledged a manufacturing defect in the composition of the tiles. They will be providing a completely new floor for our next season! They have been a great partner in the effort to resolve our quality concerns.
